Barong - Bali

This is a small puppet version of Barong. The Lion Barong is the most common but it can also take the form of a tiger or a boar. He is sometimes accompanied by a friendly monkey. Barong is a mythical creature from Bali who represents the protector of mankind and the good spirits and often appears in performances where he defends mankind from the Rangda, a terrifying witch. The Barong is usually a costume worn by two performers similar to the Chinese Lion.
