Tulukutu Jigging Dolls - Zambia, Africa

These simple jigging figures were often made by young boys. They would sit on the ground with there legs stretched out in front of them and have the puppets strung between there two big toes. The puppets are then made to dance by the boys slapping their thighs. The dolls often represent married couples. The Puppet Museum in The Netherlands has a photograph of these puppets being used.(external link)
